Cloud images typically have the American keyboard preconfigured. To temporarily configure the Spanish keyboard, run the following command:

  sudo loadkeys es

To make this change persistent instead of running this command every time, launch the keyboard configuration assistant.

  sudo dpkg-reconfigure keyboard-configuration
